Fire Safety Top Tips

On Monday two firemen came to speak to us about fire safety. They explained to us how to prevent fires, stop fires safely and escape in an emergency. Here are our top tips compiled by Amy Shannon in 4th Class:
  1. You should always have a working smoke alarm in your hallways or in each room.
  2. Never throw water on a fire started by electrical appliances because it will make the fire ten times worse.
  3. Check your smoke alarm once a week.
  4. Never leave a lighting candle near curtains, soft furnishings, books or papers.
  5. Always keep your hallway free from obstacles in case you need to leave in an emergency.
  6. If there is a fire in your house get out and stay out and call the fire and rescue service.
  7. There should be only one plug inserted into a socket.
  8. Saucepan handles should not be facing out because they could be tipped accidentally over by small children.
  9. Always have an escape plan.
  10. Always have a spark guard in front of an open fire.

Gone Batty!!

Our classroom was taken over by Goblins and Ghouls and everything in between for our final Friday before the midterm. We had great fun painting our creepy clay pots and eating monkey nuts.

Thank you to all the parents who attended our Parent-Teacher meetings this month. It was great to meet you all!

We had maths week during the month of October. Everybody made a great effort to achieve certificates in Mathletics. Our top scorer was Shane Woods with over 12000 points! Keep up the hard work! We also participated in a 3rd class to 6th class maths quiz as well as enjoying maths stations in the classroom.
